Things You Should Carry The Emergency Room

A person visits the emergency room only when it’s urgent. However, it is never a smooth experience. Besides the pungent smell of saline and medicine, people always appear very busy. For many patients, a visit to the emergency room can be very stressful and frustrating. This is why one should always stay prepared before visiting there. Here are a few things one should carry while visiting the best emergency hospitals in India.

List of all Medications

When one visits the emergency room for treatment in any critical care hospital in India, the doctor is not aware of the medication that the patient is currently using. In many cases, medications, when mixed, may have an adverse effect on the body. As the doctors and nurses are always busy in an emergency room, it will be easier for them to treat the patient without wasting much time. Also, in cases where the patient is unconscious and cannot speak, the list helps the medical experts to determine the best treatment for the patient.

Any Allergies?

Just like it is important for the doctors to be aware of the medication that the patient is using, it is crucial for the doctor to know about the patient’s allergies. In case of emergencies, running tests on the patient wastes a lot of time. A list of allergies that the patient suffers helps the doctors to determine the best course of action. For instance, doctors use latex gloves while treating. If the patient is allergic to latex, it can cause the patient to go into shock and possibly die.

Insurance Card

Any patient who visits the emergency room is asked for the insurance. The patient should have the insurance car ready and also the expense that the hospital might charge you. Different insurance policies have different policies and guidelines. So, make sure that you are aware of all the expenses that are covered under the policy.

Photo Identification

With the rise in frauds, many hospitals ask for a photo identification while admitting the patient. While providing the insurance card and co-payment, a photo identification has to be provided as well. The driver’s license, state ID or any other proof is important while visiting the emergency room.

Emergency Contact Information

When a patient gets admitted to the emergency room and his or her condition is critical, the hospital will ask for an emergency contact number. Along with medications and the insurance card, carry any emergency contact information. The medical staff will get in touch with the person if necessary.
